Hopping around.

It has been a busy, fun and crazy past 4 months. It all started off with my flight off to Silicon Valley in December where I met great leaders and entrepreneurs and made friends who were like minded. Being in SV really gave me the courage and faith to believe that any idea which seems far fetched can be achieved. Being there really strengthened my belief system of passion and work. Talking to Mike Maples, who IPOed his company on NASDAQ at US70mil n hearing his life philosophies was just one example of the many humble leaders I was able to meet. Apart from all the positive and optimistic thoughts and speeches presented, failure is also a common thing in the Valley. There have been always failures within the successful entrepreneurs. However, failure is a teaching tool for one to pick himself up to another level. Failure must be learnt fast in the Valley, if not it is said that you will be 'banished' from the Valley.

I spent my other 2+weeks on the west coast of America road-tripping to places like Yosemite, Death Valley, Vegas, Grand Canyon and LA. So many stories in the process.

I then flew back from LA to home to meet my sis n family :) this was when the crazy madness started. Because I hadn't had my visa to the US for my exchange prog, I had to get some stuff settled in Singapore. I had like another 3 more flights and a 5hrs bus ride in a span of a week.It was a God sent miracle that I managed to get my visa as I had to apply for a Canadian visa and a US visa within a few days while completing all my medical checkups. I had like 1 day to pack my bag before I headed off to Connecticut. My parents were stressed looking at me! Haha.

After the bit of travelling, I set off again on another 21hr flight (excluding transit time) to New York. And I arrived on the coldest day of winter which probably was -15celcius. I was so tired from all the moving around but it was so enlightening to see so many new things n meet new ppl.

Life at UConn has been interesting as I have been involved with Stage Craft where I work in a workshop that make sets n props for Musicals n plays. Apart from that, I have been travelling every week to places like NY, Boston and DC. Everything seems quite crazy. Sometimes I sit still can't believing how blessed I am.

Some highlights of my UConn travel trips so far are:

-Checked out Shepard Fairey's 1st solo exhibition 'Obey Supply and Demand' in Boston ICA
-rocking with Eve 6 and Brand New
-watching Phantom of the Opera at Broadway
-shoppping at Soho NYC
-standing in the middle of Times Square in the middle of the night below the blazing billboards
-walking inside the Capitol building in Washington DC
-seeing the 1st Wright aeroplane and listening to the 1st African American astronaut share his experiences at the Kennedy Space Museum
-eating seafood and dining at great places

These are the little exciting stuff that are keeping my blood pumping :) I still have test, exams and homework which I am trying to cope with.

I thank God for everything. As I read today's devotion, it reminded me to realized and take note of what God has blessed us with and see how we can make a difference in another's life with what we have been blessed with. For me, it is so easy to just forget what I am blessed with and to just live a self absorbed life in a land of God blessed abundance like America.

ps. am typing this on my way to the La Guardia Aiport to catch a flight out to Miami for spring break. Probably this post will be posted 1 or 2 weeks later as I am away from my lappie n pictures.
